Sometimes known as the pink and grey cockatoo or rose-breasted cockatoo, the galah is found throughout Australia and is among the most common of the cockatoos. They are known for their bold and loud behaviour which undoubtedly lead to the name ‘galah’ (or ‘flaming galah in Alf Stewart’s case) being used as Australian slang for ‘fool’, ‘clown’ or ‘idiot’.
